Posted on: It's Not Hard to Say Goodbye
May 30, 2013 at 9:01 PMQuestion:
How do we say, "Did you say goodbye to everyone?"
Is there a better way to say it than: 你有没有跟大家都说再见?
Also, what if the situation is a foreigner leaving China and saying goodbye to everyone he/she knows. In this case, "再见“ doesn't seem to make sense, because the foreigner won't be seeing the people anymore.
Is there a way to say it with 别? Like the movie 霸王别姬

May 27, 2013 at 10:14 AMWhat I meant was that those people you mentioned aren't professional Chinese teachers and nobody pays them to teach Chinese. Chinesepod is a company that teaches Chinese by employing Mandarin specialists and other professionals. So, what photos get posted onto this site, and what photos random individuals post online are really different.
I do have a faith, but I don't think that's related to my views on this.

May 27, 2013 at 6:35 AMInteresting comment. My response is we don't go to those people you mentioned to learn Chinese. It's like a school faculty member dressing inappropriately and then someone saying "Well, lots of people dress like that". You disagree with me, and that's fine. I think that China's reputation for being conservative definitely doesn't apply to how people dress. Since realizing this, I've begun to doubt if Chinese people are conservative at all, but that's a different topic.

Posted on: The Trouble with Marrying a Foreigner
May 30, 2013 at 9:42 PMthe realproblem Chinese people have with being with foreigners: they know they'll be stared at by every Chinese person they ever come across. Or, they find out soon after dating a foreigner that they will be stared at by every Chinese person they come across, and they think it's extremely embarrassing for themselves.
