In the north the inside temperature can vary but should not get below about 18C. But the heat doesn't come on until November and it gets turned off about April 1st.

regarding 1公里=1千米,  don't confuse these with just 里 which is 1/2 a kilometer.

Is there a web site which lists the schedules and prices for trains within China?  I suspect that the fast trains are about as expensive as a plane ticket.

The "Three Self Church" is a chacteristically Chinese way of abbreviating  "self-governance, self-support, self-propagation" (自治、自养、自传).  This started in 1954 so that the government could control the church.  This also restricts any foreign influence within the Chinese Church. Christianity was viewed as a foreign religion and, therefore, unwelcome.  Of course Buddism is also a foreign religion but ....

I have a question for any Chinese language grammarians. During my reading of my elementary reader, I came across 及 linking two nouns together. Is this completely equivalent to 和?  Is this character only found in written language?

The pdf and dialogue tab are great additions. Also the content itself is very good.  After Amber left it took a little time for QW to get back on it's feet but now it is better than before.  Good job Connie, Pete and Jenny!

In the phrase ... 由他来... ,  does the 来 always come with the 由?
