I always remember hu4zhao4 by thinking that it sounds a bit like "who Joe",as in the passport shows who this foreign Joe is.Just my way of remembering.

I also would have dearly loved to go especially to the Beijing Olympic games for so many reasons. So many wonderful aspects to it.

It was great having some live on the street interviews, particularly surrounding an event like this.Even though just a newbie,I too was very impressed with Ambers Mandarin.

While all interesting,I was particularly interested in the self heating meals. Were these only available for the games,or are they always available, and if so ,how widely available in China? I'd love to see a picture of the device.

Gold;Jīnpái !! Amber this episode of DA was pure gold. These 'Engnese' / 'Zhonglish' words are now my favourite words.I love the discussion and the way you discuss their usage.

The second half was also interesting, particularly if my daughter ever decides to actually study in China.Thankyou!

also loved hearing the whole tradition behind mooncakes.Cool how it has the hanzi on top. When I was in Taiwan I remember buying a whole variety pack of all these little cakes in a store in the foodcourt below 101 which included a red bean flavour, but they didn't look like the mooncake above.I wonder what they were called? They were delicious and very interesting flavours.

I agree with misterjess.

aah;found a link that shows the difference between what is referred to as single lids and double lids;not the age related bags I was thinking of ,but more of a western look. The link is :

Another very interesting episode of DA.Great and pertinent questions Amber.I liked hearing what the attitudes of the parents were to cosmetic surgery, costs, most common procedure ,etc.I was intrigued by the double eyelid procedure and would be curious to see before and after photos.I always thought people had eyelid ops to get rid of bags under their eyes.
