kimiik,

Good idea.Contextual words are also good subjects for Qing Wen.I really liked that movie "the pursuit of happiness" and a good and interesting example of your point.

Amber:"Band of thieves that I ran over and broke up"

Whoa;superhero stuff ! Maybe my "ghost who walks" comment in the "come on up" post wasn't too far off the mark after all.Impressive.

Talking of bicycles being stolen I recently watched a film called "Beijing bicycle" [not sure how well known it is] about a poor country chap who goes to Beijing and gets a job as a courier relying on his bike which he has to pay off.It gets stolen of course. The lengths he went to to get his bike back [including at one point clinging on to his bake for dear life while he is getting beaten up ] make me realise how lucky I am to have a bike and really appreciate it.

user20941,

While Australia is 14 hours ahead of you when we take into account the international date line,I'm sure you would have flown west to Australia [which ignoring the dateline for a sec, is 10 hours behind ...you then just add a day].You would probably also head westward to China which  would be 12 hours behind timezone wise [once again then just add a day].It would obviously depend on your departure point and arrival point [assuming no stop overs ],but because Australia is also much further south the trip would probably average out a couple of hours longer.A longer trip would mean the Oz trip itself would possibly be a bit more tiring. However, jetlag is more related to circadian rhythm and how many time zones you cross [with anything above 5 time zones being considered significant ].Jetlag is always worse when travelling east as you discovered on your Oz trip.In the final analysis I would say probably not a big difference between the 2 trips.

Aoda,

This is useful for future reference.Always best to learn from other peoples experiences so thanks for sharing.I was going to ask if you thought this was the case at other Uni's but you answered that in the end.Apart from your sister did others from other uni's report similar? Also did you get the impression this was related to the field you were studying or that it applied across all fields?

Michael,

Well done. Most tunes take a while to grow on me but I like this one already. It almost sounds like we should stand up to attention [in a fun way ] when we hear it.Upbeat and a deserved winner.Looking forward to next weeks news and features to hear it start the podcast off.Cheers.

If that be the case; that Northern Chinese eat more noodles;and if noodles are a symbol of long life [as instructed on DA birthday edition ],can we extrapolate that Northern Chinese will have a longer life expectancy ?
