The dialogue was funny, but made hilarious by Sunix. Thanks for the laughs mate.巧克!!
Light,
At $1.40 US /rose for eternal love that's a bargain.I had a mate who would have made good use of such a bargain. He would buy a big bunch and then divvy them up amongst his various flames.
Jenny,
Did you ever have an admirer 给你花 during your brief stint as a florist?
Ken,
I remember when I went on a holiday to Ireland many years ago ,visiting a church there that claimed to have St Valentine's heart in a little box.Do you know anything about that?
I know it's commercial an all that,but I still love Valentine's Day.我祝大家情人节快乐

"笑掉大牙/laugh your teeth off"..I like it.This lad here may have found a trip to China where you can 笑掉大牙 a more enjoyable way to go.

Nǐhǎomen!Bingo.I've found just what I'm looking for and it works here as well as everywhere else. Here is the link:

Yeah Calkins,I know what you mean. But for me,I like to give it a shot, and then go to either the vocab from the lesson,or mdbg to just double check afterwards ,but just prior to posting.Let's face it.We're not going to be checking ni3hao3,but less ingrained stuff will need to be checked.I think there is some sort of [partial] checker with the program I just linked to but I haven't sussed it out yet.

February 12, 2009 at 6:48 AMNi3hao3 你好。I have just entered the hanzi directly without copying and pasting from elsewhere. But what I can't currently do is directly enter the pinyin with the tone marks instead of the numbers.I downloaded the firefox plugin that Johns blog linked to but at doesn't appear to work here [at least not for me...is it working for anyone else on this site? ] when you highlight over ni3hao3 and then click on the blue button on the bottom right of the status bar that comes when you install it.It's no big deal because the most important thing is to be able to input the hanzi. But it would be nice to do the pinyin with tone marks occas if anyone has a solution for pc's.

Thanks.Re:"先生 carries a respectful connotation."
I realise that it's respectful and also the way it is used nowadays [though I hadn't picked up on the fact that it's used more for foreigners so thanks for that],but I'm wondering what you mean by "connotation".Does this mean you agree that originally it was saying "first born" as a title of respect?
Calkins,
whoa.I didn't realise that derogatory meaning.I have used that word before. When is it safe to use then? I mean obviously be careful in Northern China then, but given that people travel about [I've used it here with someone from Beijing for example]
