Nice to see you back.

1..good question. To my knowledge this is not possible on the site here [at this stage at least...there is an SRS function coming to the vocab manager here and being able to save phrases has been raised but I think the jury is out on that one]. I think currently the best option I know of is to copy some of those phrases into a flashcard programme like anki. You can also make your own cards in the vocab manager on the site.

2. I guess the exercises are trying to test your retention from the expansion. To me it makes sense. I think if you're finding the exercises boring you may find it better to go to the testing centre which was improved a few months ago. I think it gives a different test each time.

I hope you get some answers...I'm particularly interested in CPod's response to your first question.

So many things I liked about this lesson I don't know where to start 【but I'm now not sure if I should thank our CPod team 朋友们 for such a useful and well taught lesson ;)]. I've heard this advice before about using xiexie,but I still can't get my head around not saying thanks to Chinese friends where I think it would be appropriate in my culture. I find it a little confusing because it feels right to me [and rude not to thank where appropriate] and yet I don't want to give out the message that I don't think we're good friends.怎么办？[is it different for foreigners anyway?...I gather not really]

well I must say I find this response very interesting and yet not surprising. There you are living in China now surrounded by a culture that openly states a preference for pale skin and yet you are sticking with your preference for the tanned look. So to a dumb male it makes me wonder why [ perhaps I'm even dumb/unwise to explore this,hehe ;)] . Is it for yourself, for expats,or for photos shown back home? It can't be for the Chinese. Knowing as little as I do my guess is that it's for yourself. I hope I haven't overstepped the mark here. Feel free to ignore. My guess is that you're not alone in this. I've met many just the same and I doubt they would change their view regardless of where they lived. The interesting thing would also be to know if this view eventually changed over time after constant messages to the contrary from the culture you're living in.

sorry if I've missed it,but what about fake tans [from those spray on products]? ..how to say? also, while popular here, I guess they're not popular in East Asia either for the same reasons,right?
