thanks for this mate. I guess I'm a little unclear on just what you mean by:

....the reason I'm unclear is because of the www...making stuff on the internet available anywhere. I suppose you mean it's a Chinese site and perhaps you're also implying the site is actually blocked outside of China or something. If it's not blocked and is available then I'm curious as to what the site is.

I'll have to look up this smh player. It sounds like contrary to your other downloading experiences the smh player is no good in China [but fine here]. Yep, I know the frustration of the continuous cycle of 3 seconds play and 30 seconds buffering. That's what I was referring to above.
