I would have thought 70% was a very good percentage to be working with. After all, if it was 100% you'd be learning zippo, and if it was 0% some people find that overwhelming. At 70% you can start to get a bit of an idea of the context and start having some educated guesses before you then look up the remainder. Also I find it's never going to be a clear cut 70%...it might be say 50% you know down pat, 20% where the context has reminded you of words you don't know so well...but this is reinforcing them, maybe another 10% where you think you may have seen the character before but can't quite remember and when you look it up it reinforces that vocab ,and 10% that is truely new and you're learning new vocab. Of course I'm just making up these percentages but I think the principal of what I'm saying is my experience at least. All worthwhile. Jiayou pengyou !
