Can't find an answer mate [looks like it originated in the 1930's]. I guess if you Forest Gumped that road all the way to Thailand you'd be healthy in the end [based on the what doesn't kill you makes you stronger theory...is there a saying for that in Chinese?]. hey, honestly just seen this now. I liked your trivia quiz so just jumped straight in without reading the posts further on. The last one has me stumped though. I was thinking that it might be on major road to/from the airport or maybe expo, but I don't know, and I can't see any details on the motorbike by blowing it up. I don't know if the motorbike guy is meant to be some cop or other security type person, or if it's that motorbikes are only allowed in certain areas as you've alluded to above.

I don't know whether the pic is good enough to tell whether the vacancy sign on the dashboard is lit up or not, but I'm going with ...it is..that it is available for hire.
