November 1, 2010 at 6:23 AMMy first thought when the kid in the lesson started to wreak daodan was that the noise was the kid turning over the trash can/s. Not sure if they have metal ones in China [or North America or twilight zone China], or the plastic ones like we have here nowadays.

November 1, 2010 at 6:21 AMI must say I prefer this 不给糖,就导弹[oops that should only be 捣蛋。。。hopefully the kid doesn't really have a guided missile up his sleeve, hehe] to "trick or treat". Definitely a little more intimidating this ultimatum.

November 1, 2010 at 6:18 AMnah, you're never too old, so I'm glad you've volunteered so you can report back to us. Possibly they are less likely to think you're crazy tonight as they would be here as they're less likely to be aware of the precise date. :)

October 31, 2010 at 1:29 PM不用谢. I certainly wasn't looking for thanks [ and my contribution is much less than the others anyhow] but rather just trying to come up with a helpful suggestion.
For what it's worth, you'd know best but I'm under the impression that you are very much underestimating where you're at [by focussing on bits you miss and not stepping back to see just how much you've learnt]. Your appreciation of grammar for starters is way beyond mine. Personally I'm barely off the blocks, still at the start of newbie level when it comes to writing, but that's another journey I'm looking forward to. Women yiqi jiayou ba !

October 31, 2010 at 12:21 PMpaul,
hehe, in my mind there is no doubt that CPod are very good to me and that there is good rapport and I hope this continues. But I think this is only natural when one has been part of the community for over 2 years and I see it as no different to the good relations it has with the vast majority of it's other users [with the only exceptions I am aware of being that in the end a few users have been banned, and a few sock puppet types have had warnings], so I am surprised you'd make such an observation and wonder at you doing so. I was not one of CPod's earliest discoverers so it is only natural that there are those who bring about nostalgia that I can't. eg there are those that are in the Hall of Fame. Having said all that, I think it is noteworthy just how impartial CPod are and how professional they are.
"How about you urging Cpod to narrow the learning gap between Ele and Inter? "
Well sure I could, but I really fail to see how this would make any difference. Despite your view, I have made numerous suggestions on the boards that must have been either dud ideas, undoable, unpopular, or not in keeping with their vision. I have no problem with that. I am just one and that's as it should be. Also, while I still don't follow some of the stuff in Intermediate either, as John repeats nearly everything in English that Jenny says and as I'm comfortable not following everything in a lesson, it's not personally a problem for me. That doesn't mean I'm not all for your cause. I'm right behind anything that's going to help poddies make that transition. But the thing is I'm very much under the impression that CPod is highly aware of this issue as it comes up frequently and it would be their goal as well. The crux of the matter comes in how to do it. And that is why I would not be the best person to consult on this issue as it is not personally a problem for me and thus I'm probably not in the best position to help come up with a solution. I do however hope you get just what you want mate and also wish you every success. [btw I strongly believe you'll get there anyway if you just stick at it ]
In the meantime, I have a suggestion. Transcripts are very time consuming and thus possibly not everyone's cup of tea/possibility and while others have done some transcripts, sure they're not going to be there for most lessons. But why don't you note the times of the sections you're particularly wanting to know about. I for one would be happy to try and help if I can work it out. All the best, baba.
