November 13, 2010 at 3:32 AM"I guess you are not a native Chinese speaker "
..you're absolutely right. Yeah, I'd like to hear from a native speaker on this one too. Thanks for asking it [and I'll be careful to not lead you astray in future, hehe ]

November 13, 2010 at 2:34 AM"pirating"..didn't know you could call it that. I would have called it hijacking, stealing, or those dudes that deliberately go out in their cars looking for it...wardriving.

November 13, 2010 at 2:12 AMI guess 晚上 then kicks in after 5pm. It'd be interesting to know whether this is affected by summer/winter or by daylight savings. It's hard to think of it as evening when it's still bright outside.

November 13, 2010 at 2:07 AMwjefferys,
Good questions as always. I'm not certain, but I think 早 could go as late as 9am after which time it probably becomes 上午。 After that 午 is kind of vague because I tend to think of it is meaning noon, but it seems it can also be more vaguely applied to 11am to 1pm. Then there's 下午 which just means afternoon and I think goes to 5pm.
