October 6, 2011 at 12:58 AMoh, this episode is so awesome. To the first mystery though...who is the voice actor playing 黑猫? My first impression was that it is none other than the 经过处理的声音 of John. 对不对?

I understand the frustration that presents as I have experienced it in the past also on one or two occasions though personally not in this series. I have followed this series closely though and I really think they have got the background audio spot on. Not only that, I think it greatly enhances the overall experience...adds dramatic effect that is so in sync with the story. Furthermore I really think its an important listening skill to acquire. I've watched several Chinese movies where the audio is nowhere near as clear. Many situations in real life will also have a lot of distracting background noise. I understand when learning the need to hear things clearly without distraction, but I think at this Upper Intermediate level the introduction of such background audio in some lessons is not only appropriate, but beneficial. I'm not sure if you're a Premium subscriber, but if you can go through the vocab tab till you've nailed the vocab and then the dialogue tab line by line till you've nailed that, you may then find listening to the lesson dialogue much easier. If a basic subscriber just listening to the lesson dialogue bit by bit till you've worked it out or listening to the whole podcast with the explanations several times should help. I really think it's worth the effort in the end, not only for the skills you'll be asquiring but also you can then really enjoy the lesson dialogue for the superb work that it is. Good luck mate :)

I don't know too much about Chinese names, but I think one key will be working out which character you would choose for both di and su. That could well be the first question you're asked. There is Surname 文 which also means culture, language. There is also a BST lesson discussing choosing a chinese name that you may be interested in.

"swags" got an Aussie like myself to thinking that CPod was going to print some promotional stuff on an Aussie Swag. Did you mean "wag"...as in a jester? ...or did I miss something?
