Mark, One of the alternate meanings for 都 in the ABC Dictionary is "already". So perhaps 我都结婚了 and luoyien's 都12点了,还不睡觉 could be interpreted that way. Xiandai Hanyu Cidian likewise gives 表示‘已经’: 饭都凉了,快吃吧 as the fourth alternate definition for 都. All of these examples do seem to be associated with use of 了

The messages in this thread seem to have been rearranged out of chronological order, at least for the messages dating from April.

The usage of 可 + 是 by the 爷爷, as described in the grammer link for "可", was also used in an earlier lesson: http://chinesepod.com/learnchinese/arriving-in-china-on-business

部 is a measure word for films. A good book for learning measure words is http://www.amazon.com/Learning-Chinese-Measure-through-Pictures/dp/7800522016/ . It comes with sample sentences in simplified characters and pinyin.

Since we already have 只要 and two forms of 只有, maybe we should throw 只好 (must, have to) into the mix for extra fun. Next week's episode: 张亮,你只有一个选择,你只好追求丽丽。只有这样你才能得到幸福。只要不放弃,你就一定能成功。只要爱就行。

The dictionary doesn't seem to allow lookup by traditional characters. I tried 直徑 and got nothing, then tried 直径 and got the entry (with 直徑 given as the traditional version).

I think he's referring to the bedroom scene lesson involving Zhang Liang and Lili. Although the sound effects were really top notch and a lot of unique new vocabulary was introduced, in hindsight it may have been somewhat immodest.

Chinese Wikipedia says 当且仅当 for if-and-only-if, and the ABC dictionary seems to confirm this

I entered "藤蔓" ... ABC Dictionary says téngmàn, Xiandai Hanyu Cidian says téngwàn. ChinesePod dictionary says... teng2man2 ?
