February 11, 2013 at 5:08 AMActually I've been called wingnut before, though my ears aren't as prominent as in my Avatar. For any cricket fans, I've been likened to Adam Gilchrist on more than one occasion.

February 10, 2013 at 8:42 PMPerhaps your limited time is a good reason for contributing the odd 30 second slot to transcripts started by someone else. Your first full podcast will probably take you a number of hours to transcribe.
BTW, my feeling is that the more recent podcasts (say the last two years) are easier than the older ones.

February 10, 2013 at 10:06 AMThanks for that. But of course I was not the instigator of this idea. I just happen to be the one who is doing the work right at this moment. I think Chris and Bababardwan have done many more transcripts. I must admit that I am not thinking about the usefulness of the transcript for others while I am doing it. My understanding of the language is progressing in leaps and bounds as I do these podcasts, and I strongly suggest you do some for yourself. The first few will make you want to tear you hair out, but they do get easier. And the way the transcript group has been set up, you don't need to do a whole transcript. Just jump in and transcribe one or more 30 second slots, putting all things you are unsure about in brackets, and let others make suggestions. Why don't you jump in on the one I am working on now: http://chinesepod.com/community/conversations/post/13348
