I learned 'going Dutch' from ChinesePod. I'm wondering, is this term supposed to be saying something about Dutch people? If so, how has it survived the PC revolution?

多长 is not specific to time. It can also refer to length. When referring to time, the question is typically 多长时间, as it is in the lesson you refer to.

多久 only refers to time, so you don't follow it with 时间.

Also (and I may be wrong here), I believe 多长时间 can refer to any interval of time (whether past, present or future), whereas 多久 refers to an interval of time up to and including 'now', or up to and including the moment in time that is being referred to.

I'd just like to bring the request for a fix back to the top so that it gets noticed by the CPod staff. Could others please resist making unrelated comments for this lesson until this is fixed.

The Yellowbridge dictionary gives the examples:

他以他的书法为自豪。He prides himself on his handwriting.

她以其秀丽的书法而使我惊异。She astonished me with her beautiful handwriting.

他的书法不错,但是很难和你的相比。His handwriting is not bad, but it's hardly comparable with yours.

我的书法很好,但与我父亲的相比,我的就很差了。My handwriting is good, but it is poor as compared to my father's.

In each of these cases, 'handwriting' can be interpreted as 'penmanship'.

Thanks for that.

My main problem was that everyone is expected to tiptoe around the insecurities of one person, and I knew there was nothing factual in what he was saying anyway.

In a similar vein, is it true that in the States you can't ask for a black coffee, lest this use of the word black should offend someone?
