June 29, 2013 at 11:34 PMHuh? There are Ellies out there who learn traditional characters exclusively. We are all given the choice of Traditional or Simplified PDF downloads. Why would using the character set that you are familiar with amount to showing off?

June 18, 2013 at 9:36 AMThe error with "I drunk a lot" is the missing 'am'. Right?

June 15, 2013 at 9:54 AMNot sure of the story here, but the comparison would be between "J" and "K", not n and k.
Wikipedia says of the name change Peking to Beijing: The name corresponds to the Middle Chinese pronunciation kjaeng prior to a phonetic shift from [kʲ] to [tɕ] (the sound represented by the pinyin letter j) and preserved among the southern dialects (e.g., Cantonese, Amoy, Min Nan, and Hakka) used by the traders of the port cities visited by early European traders.
So it seems that the k pronunciation was a result of Westerners trading with southern Chinese, where the language has resisted the sound change from k to j.

June 9, 2013 at 2:32 AMI'm wondering, why is the Male-Female combination preferred, and why is the Male always the English speaker and the Female the Chinese speaker?
Is this somehow catering to male fantasies about conversing with Chinese women? Or does CPod believe that the English-speaker's role is to sound like the leader of the conversation, and that this is somehow more believable with a male speaker. I'm really interested in how you rationalize this preference.
Any idea what fraction of the CPod audience is male? I suspect it is a good majority.

June 8, 2013 at 1:19 AMI deleted it because I could see where this was heading ... again.
By provocatively reposting, its clear that's where you want to take this. I will not oblige.
I repeat - I am not xiangnong.
The end.
