Baba

you are exactly right. It makes too much sense i guess. And there were 50. Five pages over 12 hours. The evidence is still there because even though cpod deleted the comments, for some reason they are unable to remove the banners from the conversations page. Those with comments deleted simply say "comment made 2 days ago" but there is no poster's name or link to a particular comment. This still results in comments buried.

Zhen I think you are right, but then there is one very simple solution, turn it off. I will say no more.

baba

it seems we think alike re threading. And below this is stuff from yesterday. Makes no sense. If I visit a page today there is no way I can easily scan everything I havent seen or is new to me since my last visit. Its a hunt and peck exercise.

Zhen,

you are correct and speaking of threaded comments, if seconds after you post, someone else posts a reply to a thread elsewhere on the page, your post,, even though its the second newest on the page, will likely never be seen by anyone. Before threaded comments the second newest post sat right above the latest one. Easy to quickly read back up to the point you had left off the last time you visited the page. I find this very annoying and I dont see any benefit other than discouraging folks from posting at all. Perhaps that is the goal.

baba -

I understand your sentiment but the gal yesterday literally posted 50 times. There is no excuse for that much excess.

Dont do it Jess,

If you shave you will look like a sissy. Better to look like a gangster. At least gansters get respect. :-)

Well, good luck John,

At least we get to keep the best part of you and I hope this isnt the begining of an incremental departure. Im still a little fuzzy on what this new company will do but Im guessing the major contribution to the bottom line will be one-on-one tutoring? Anyway - Its always good to have several doors open, and I hope this one makes you rich.

Before you go.....who do I have to bribe, and how much will it cost me to get rid of this awful, awful threading? It completely destroys any chronology and quickly buries everything in a rat's nest of miniature confusion. Anyway, just my opinion, but does anyone else feel this way?

actually I would like to see it, and maybe China will breathe life back into the worlds fair concept.

Hi Changye,

I have seen this annoying little blue fellow, with the "something about Mary" hairdo, in SH for several years now. Unfortunatley I have not seen him anywhere else in the world. The world's fair (now called expo) is so "yesterday". I think the US pavillion finally got funding last week. Nobody cares. If Im in SH, I will take a look (if I can get free tickets) but I wouldnt plan a travel campaign around it.

Well, if I were a cynical guy :-)........

this would seem more like a tollgate interview for both partites, to see if going further is even an option. The kid wants to know if her parents are healthy. Translation - how long before I have to take care of you too? Her parents want to know basically if his family has any money and what financial burdens there are. Translation - does this kid have any money, and will his parents be competing with us for his support? They want to know if he plans to buy a house. Translation - will we have a place to stay if our daughter marries you? Will she be taken care of in a manner that she is used to or that she deserves?

Conclusion - this is a nice kid but he comes from a family of peasants. He has an education, and perhaps a future, but this will take too long. Basically mom tells her, love is a luxury we cant afford. Get rid of this bum and find a guy with money - and a house! Love is like indigestion - it will pass, then where will you be?

Mom doesnt even wait until the guy leaves to tell her. My guess is, this isnt going to happen.

Tomorrow I will offer the "if I were a romantic guy" interpretation.

On second thought, perhaps Baba should write the romantic version. :-)
