JP - I have spent some time in Mexico so I know what you mean. Lots of hugging and kissing on the cheek to greet co-workers in the morning. This was unusual for me at first but the odd thing is you can kiss a girl on the cheek to say good morning but if you hold the door for her it means you are hitting on her. Go figure.

Chillosk, Im not smart enough to answer that question but I am smart enough to know I shouldnt try. I tend to favor the asian look myself. Many western guys dont feel that way however.

and I didnt mean to imply all Chinese women lead by the ear - but it is equally possible in China.

chillosk, I think there are many more western men in China on business than western women. Men like women and Chinese women happen to be here. Im sure its not that simple but its hard to assign one reason. I dont think Chinese men like western women. Too controlling they think but Chinese women lead by the ear as well. Other thoughts?

Im not so sure all westerners have a different taste in women. Not long ago I cut out a dozen or so pictures of Asian women and shared them with my Chinese friend. I asked him to rate them on looks. (Jen was in there too). We seemed to agree pretty well but I was surprised at how analytical he got about it. The distance between the eyes, size of eyes, narrowness of face, high cheekbones etc. I have noticed that Shanghai women are better looking :-)

Brent, yea I love the differences. Actually owl is 猫头鹰 - cat head bird. Makes sense. They just use the expression night cat vs night owl. Makes sense also. Cats tend to cat around all night. I was once a night cat. Now I get up at the same time I used to get home.

I once had dinner with a Chinese gal and we took a doggie bag. As she was diverted doing something I ducked into the restroom real quick and I set the bag near the pay phone outside the restroom because I had a hunch. Well she figured out I had been in the restroom (this is a five star hotel mind you) and would not believe that I hadnt taken the bag in with me. Hence we had to throw it out. Aiya.
