When you use 听起来 or 看起来, don't think of the "起来" as meaning "like"; think of 听起来 as a single unit meaning "sounds like." This "sounds like" refers to an impression created specifically by SOUNDS HEARD.
This distinction is important, because 好像 is more like "it seems that," and the impression is either general, or vague, or unspecified. It's often not clear where the impression is coming from.
I'm not quite sure how 这样 is causing confusion, but if you could provide some more specific examples of things you want to say that are confusing you, I'll do my best to help!

那里/哪儿 is there/where, and 那边 is "over there" or sometimes "that side."
