February 28, 2008 at 2:30 AMClay, "that is a guy"? "in the end was a man"? 河莉秀不是“从男人变为女人”吗? 看来你还是有一些偏见哦!

February 27, 2008 at 1:00 PMRJ, I'll be back! (maybe, if Ken ever gets really busy again) OK, I'll go prowl around in the Intermediate levels now...

February 24, 2008 at 6:08 AMSorry guys, we'll get that exercise fixed tomorrow. No, I'm not taking over for Ken permanently. We record several podcasts in a row, and Ken couldn't make it that day.

February 23, 2008 at 4:54 AMCalkins, 打开 (dǎkāi) is usually used for something more box-like (a book, a box, a gift, etc.). 开 (kāi) is much more general, applying to doors, light switches, and even cars!

February 23, 2008 at 4:50 AMI'm glad you all enjoyed. I'm not going to take over for Ken, but he's a busy man, so I have to fill on for him on occasion. I think Jenny's the only one with the endurance to star in every podcast! Now we're up to 800. To be honest, 800 doesn't feel like such a big deal to me, but 1000 sure will.

February 20, 2008 at 4:38 AMRich, Hmmm, about my hosting style, I will quote the immortal words of Popeye: "I yam what I yam." (Even if I am doing a Newbie lesson.) Glad you liked the boiling oil. I was rather pleased with that association, and I was wondering if anyone would bring it up. :) I actually do have a lot more word associations that I use (or used at some point). I'll see what I can do about bringing these into the lessons more.

February 29, 2008 at 5:11 AMbinnge, When a person "uses" another person, the verb 利用 (lìyòng) is used, rather than just 用 (yòng). Grammatically, there are no tricks to it.
