These are a few more blood related terms that I thought might be useful:
1. Blood type: 血型 xuè xíng
2. Hemophilia: 血友病 xuè yǒu bìng
3. Blood bank: 血库 xuè kù
4. Blood count: 血细胞计数 xuè xì bāo jì shù and/or 血球计数 xuè qiú jì shù
I'm actually curious to know which word is most accurate for, "blood count". Would it be （血细胞）计数 or （血球）计数?

I completely agree with you. As an avid language learner, I believe semantics are an integral part of successful communication.
As we drop the colorful and diverse vocabulary that makes English an effectively expressive (and beautiful) language-- we fail to live up to its true descriptive potential; all for the sake of convenience and simplicity.
Oh, and by the way... I've also certainly been known to use, lest. ;)

October 9, 2014 at 8:43 PMCorrect! In this case, you don't necessarily need the 想. And as a fellow anglophone, it does indeed take some time to get used to!
In relation to verbs, this grammatical structure simply means, "if you don't want to do something, then don't!"
Examples:
Verbs:
不去就不去吧！If you don't want to go, then don't!
不吃就不吃吧！ If you don't want to eat, then don't!
不听就不听吧！If you don't want to listen, then don't!
In relation to adjectives it means, "If you feel that way, you feel that way!"
Adjectives:
你不高兴就不高兴！ If you're unhappy, you're unhappy!
你生气就生气！If you're mad, you're mad!
你难过就难过！If you're upset, you're upset!
The tone of this phrasing （语气） often implies apathy or indifference.

I completely agree with you! I don't think there is anything wrong with 单眼皮 or 双眼皮. Both are beautiful! On a similar note, it boggled my mind how many whitening creams and lotions I saw when I was living abroad in Taiwan! It was a far cry from the bronzy, tan crazed west. It's partially an intelligent marketing ploy: convince people to believe the grass is always greener, and subsequently profit on that fallacious notion. :-/
