Excellent. Qingwen is for me the most informative lesson group. Grammar...

別(的, classifier or noun) Same category. Expresso, Latte.  Girls.

其他 (的,classifier or noun)Outside the same category. Tea, sandwiches. Ladyboys.

另外(的,classifier or noun)Speakers are familiar with both. The 'other' nightclub(Roxy) as apart from most frequented(Luxy). The 'other' girlfriend.

若是不對的,請來糾正。

I wouldn't be too surprised if Fujianese use 'Taiwan specific' terminology when speaking Mandarin .....Minnan Hua being the Fujianese native language.

The language of culture? 50 odd ethnic groups speaking just as many languages and dialects. The language of politics? Chairman Mao couldn't speak Mandarin, instead he spoke in his native Hunanese, and Deng Xiaoping spoke in Sichuanese. Nights on the town? Depends what city you are in my friend. Mainlanders are very proud of their native languages, and most will use it firstly around friends. So, depending on where you go, I'd suggest you get a grasp of the local lingo, else you'll be practicing your English...

TaiwanesePod would be named MinnanhuaPod...I'd definitely sign up to that, and also to SichuanhuaPod.

我去方便一下。Polite way of saying you're going to the toilet (for whatever purpose).

撒尿。尿尿。Take a piss. 尿床 Piss the bed. 尿褲子 Piss one's pants.

拉屎。Take a shit. 笑到拉屎 Shit oneself laughing. 嚇到拉屎 Shit scared。

It's fun to make up your own too: 灌輸(樹)。辦公。打坐。

:)

We are all learning Mandarin, it's that simple.

In my time instructing English I've only come across a few blockheads that complain that they can't understand Singaporean English. Should English instructors be fully aware of local terminology and slang for every native English speaking country, including the variations within those countries? Because that is what you are inferring. And as you should well know, textbook English is not how native English speakers generally speak.

It's no hard road to learn some textbook Mandarin and then learn how it is really used in day to day conversation with native speakers from anywhere in the Mandarin speaking world, which includes more places than just Taiwan or mainland China. Btw, the BoPoMoFo system of Mandarin pronunciation is far more accurate than pinyin. It has no Y initial, because there is no Y initial in Mandarin, they may as well have made it a J. The Y initial is just a random addition, the reasons for which I'm not aware of, but is useless, and somewhat detrimental, all the same.
