March 5, 2011 at 5:30 AMhere are a couple of words i learned recently that relate to words in this lesson.
自在- zìzài means unrestrained; free.
独立- dúlì means to be independent.
here is the sentence i really like that has the words in context in my textbook.
我要独立地生活, 自由自在地去国外过一年, 然后再考虑今后的打算.
wǒ yào dúlì de shēng huó, zìyǒu zìzài de qù guówài guò yī nián, ránhòu zài kǎolù jīnhòu de dǎsuàn.
I just love that sentence so much for some reason. Chinese is so cool.
我很喜欢这个句子. 汉语是真牛!!!

March 5, 2011 at 5:18 AMyou must have been to monkey mountain in HK!
My wife and i went their when she was pregnant with our daughter. it was a really funny experience. i don't think the monkey's like to get stared at there. because they would get pretty upset and growl at me and come at me when looking at them straight on. it was a really fun time. Good place to spend a day, "but don't take any snacks with you."

March 15, 2011 at 12:07 PMthere are so many lesson suggestions i would like to give. here would be a couple good ones:
"pottie training your child" with vocab that would be adequate enough to teach your child after the lesson including David from Cpod playing the part of a 1 and a half year old and ofcourse one of the girls playing the mommy.
another great lesson would be about:
世界末日 shìjièmòrì and somehow in the lesson including the nice phrase:
不到长城非好汉 bùdàochángchéngfēihǎohàn
also some lessons full of mandarin slang would be great.
and Qing Wen definetly needs to have an audio recording of "only" the chinese spoken in the QW lesson all compiled together like an audio dialogue. it is too hard to listen to a QW lesson 100 times and have to listen to that much english, that should be illegal. Cpod users would benefit heaps and heaps more from QW lessons if all the recorded chinese in the lesson was compiled together in a audio dialogue.
what about... matter a fact better than just a pottie training lesson what about a multi-part series of "teaching and disciplining your children" with David playing the role of a baby in every lesson. here is a list of lessons in for the teaching and disciplining baby series...
1. Pottie training baby (explained above)
2. Babies in the high chair (a baby in the high chair gets taught how to eat properly and told not to throw food on the floor, told to chew good, etc.)
3. baby by the roadside, baby gets taught a lesson about why not to walk on the road, watch for cars, hold mommy's hand, don't be cranky, etc.
4. baby gets told to put his/her clothes on from socks to t-shirt, let daddy zip up your jacket, baby gets a lesson about why he/she has to wear enough clothes, etc.
5. baby going up the stairs, be careful on the steps, hold onto the railing, look straight ahead where you are walking, etc.
6. baby by the window ceil, don't pull on the curtains, don't climb on the window ceil. mommy explains why it is dangerous for babies to climb by the window, etc.
7. baby gets a bath
8. etc.
9. etc.
maybe not as amusing as godzilla destroying cities, people getting killed by a ninja, or someone checking out tourist attractions in Tibet. But surely priceless and much more precious to anyone hoping to teach, discipline, and raise their children by using the mandarin language. it would make a great series and priceless to any mom and dad with the responsibility to raise their children through communicating to themand teaching them using mandarin.
