Doh! I think I got it...
if anyone else has this problem here's the solution:
Changing the language Mnemosyne uses
By default, the language corresponding to your system's locale is chosen. If you want to override this behaviour, edit the .mnemosyne/config.py file and replace the line locale = None to locale = 'en' or locale = 'es' or whatever. You can find the corresponding language codes here.

Looks very interesting, 多谢 Bob.
PS. I installed the Mnemosyne app and it's set itself up entirely in Chinese!
(The computer I usually use has Chinese XP installed.)
If you (or anyone else knows how to switch languages, if that's possible,) I'd be grateful.

I managed to install the app and import the files - it takes a while and looks like its not doing anything, but it eventually gets there.

The sample sentences began some way down the file, after some introductory stuff that looked like HTML codes. I will look at it tonight.

@tal
I had the same problem. Neither file would import.
@go_manly
I also viewed the data file but I could not see the sample sentences themselves.

I think you're supposed to import the data file(s) after installing the app, but I can't get it to work, the app just stops responding.

Not sure. I downloaded it at work, and have had a chance to play with it yet. I'll try either later tonight or tomorrow afternoon.
While I was at work, I viewed the data file directly without usiing the app, and I posted my recommendation here based on that viewing.

I haven't worked out how to use it - any tips? I downloaded the app and the data files - how does it work? Do you need to import the data files?
