Hi Ellen,
Ahh...很有意思 about 根. Your explanation is very helpful. In Cantonese we use 条. If 香蕉 is broken, it can still be eaten, I guess! :)
谢谢您

Hi Kate,
The measure word for 香蕉 is 根 not 条.
根 is often for long stick-like things that cannot be bended. 条 is often for long stick-like thing that are soft and can be bended. If 香蕉 is bended, it will break into two, right? :D
As for your second question, 还 is interchangeable in this case with 而且. You can use both 不仅...而且 and 不仅...还.

Hi Ellen,
Another question. in the Supermarket lesson: the dialogue has
不僅省時間,還省錢
but the vocabulary list has
| bùjǐn ... érqiě |
Would 還 be interchangeable in this case with 而且?
谢谢您

Hi Ellen,
In the "How is it sold" lesson, why is it 我要十根香蕉 instead of 我要十条香蕉?
根,条, are both measure words to for long stick-like things?
谢谢您

Dear Ellen,
For "weight machine" - I meant an apparatus to 舉重. (something like this: http://www.comparestoreprices.co.uk/images/we/weider-8950-weight-machine-gym-system.jpg ). Not a 秤 to weight myself. ;-)
Thanks,
Kate

Dear Ellen,
I have an IT question. Just looking ahead to next weeks lessons and it seems to me that the lesson transcript for ordering Chinese take-out is not on the webpage for the lesson.
http://chinesepod.com/lessons/ordering-chinese-take-out
Or maybe I'm losing my mind??
Thanks and talk to you soon,
