I was just wondering how Chinese teachers address their students individually in Chinese?  By surname? given name? just xuesheng, or some other way?

Not sure if you're interested specifically in how the Chinese teachers address their students, but I address my Chinese students by their first names. My Chinese co-workers do the same.
