ok,what tiger related words do we have in Chinese?
I just looked up Tiger balm:
万金油
.. to 发现 no Tigers! What's the story here? Why is it called tiger balm in the first place? Does this mean tenthousand gold oil?..like it's so precious its oil that's worth ten thousand pieces of gold?

I'm not expecting to see much CNY in Tampa. My wife might have to start a little Floridian Chinese New Year revolution... :P

I'm in China, so I guess I really can't say for sure, but my hometown, Grand Rapids, has a low Chinese population. I'm sure most Grand Rapidians are oblivious to Chinese New Year.

Here there are all the usual celebrations in China town with lion dances, meals, kung fu displays and firecrackers.

February 14, 2010 at 07:14 AMNope, haven't noticed anything. There is apparently a Chinese community of some sorts here, but I've never seen them. They don't really do public things, it seems. There's a Chinese restaurant downtown, though, but I haven't been there for yonks. Can't afford to eat out now that I'm saving up for going to China! :)
