谢谢 for showing the breakdown of 旱 and the difference to 早。I love understanding the breakdown of these characters.Yeah,great question sebire.I would easily have missed the difference too.It's nice to point out the differences in similar characters.

ha, sebire, yes, there is only one stroke difference.

be careful when you write that word.^_^

旱is 日ri above and 干gan below.

Seriously, it's going to be a tough year for Chinese farmers. A great number of migrant workers (= farmers) have already lost their jobs in coastal areas and reluctantly returned home, only to find dried-up farmlands. Fortunately, the present situation is better here in northeast China than in other regions. I just hope it would eventually be "久旱逢甘雨". (blessed rain after a long drought)
