安德森哥们儿,

你有没有机会去看看我的,“中国的娱乐”那个团体?

Did you have time to check out my "Chinese Entertainment" group?  I posted a really funny video that has 4 different Chinese dialects in it.  It's essentially a commercial for a new car but it's really funny and well done.  I posted a lesson in the group but as of yet, no one's dared to give it a try.

Are you brave enough to try your hand at it?

You can look up all the new words with your dictionary, and I guarantee it will be worth the effort, because once you know what it says, it's absolutely hysterical!

虎兄弟,

sorry, been super busy. I did work on translating it though, didn't get all the way there. Like I said, I've been busy.

I was told today that we have basically 60 days to get 10 units done. That means crown and base, doors, and kitchenettes. I don't know how I'm gonna do it, but I will.

I'm going to be relying on the groups monday nights to help preserve my sanity for the next little bit.

As for a proper Chinese name for me, the only things I ask are for two, and only two characters, and it has to pass the native speaker test.

 thanks, Jess.

Mrjess,

Sorry, didn't mean to confuse you with my response, I thought it might be fun for you to translate this.

So, like I said we need to create a good Chinese name for you...don't worry Wilbur... aint gonna do no transliterations boy!

By the way, check out my group, if you like to translate, I think this will be alot of fun for you.

安德森,哥们儿!(We need to get you an official Chinese name)

Down the street from where I took you is another great restaurant that has Yunnan style cuisine, called 云南过桥园,which is very famous, it's also the place I first met my Chinese teacher. I don't know if you got a chance to read my story I posted on Ken's "Why are you learning Chinese?" post or not, but I wrote all about it there.

Their noodle dishes are awesome, especially 三鲜米线 and 小锅米线.

Anything you want that's Chinese you can get here in this area!  When I took my friend to Monterey Park he was dumbfounded, not speaking, just sitting there staring strait ahead.  I asked him what was up and he told me, "I can't believe this place, it's like I'm in another country!  It's like I went to sleep and woke up in China!!!"

Amber, if you ever get a chance to come out this way, drop us a line, we'll go get some 云南菜,行不行?

ahhh the burning sensation makes sense now!  川菜 (Chuāncài)!

I wonder if you can get Yunnan food in LA.  Found a great Yunnan restaurant here in Shanghai.  They even have their own goat cheese!!!

Hi Amber,

Our meetings are great,we went out for 川菜。we used our mandarin with the wait staff and had a good ol' time. I just haven't eaten spicy in a while.

we have moved our meetings from old chinatown( cantonese and dying out) to monterey park (mandarin and lively). I'm loving it , I've been holed up studying by myself for too long.

So just jump on a plane and come on out( bring Connie, she's travel sized).

Jess.

有火烧的感觉  (Yǒu huǒshāo de gǎnjué) is how you would say 'burning sensation'.  hmmm, must have been an interesting meet-up!

I like LA, so i'm living vicariously through your little LA group, OK?  :)  How did it go?
