Dark Knight

Hi,

Did anyone notice anything suspicious or out of place about the 'language' used in the Hong Kong scenes from the "Dark Night"?  I'm pretty sure I know the answer to question--but I wanted to solicit response from the community.

Tvan:

杨紫琼, Michelle Yeoh's beauty is absolutely unreal!  She first came to my attention in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon 卧虎藏龙,and I thought she was very pretty, but when I got the DVD and watched her interview I was blown away!  She looked every bit as beautiful as a woman half her age!

Suburbanite:

Stay tuned to see if Dark Knight will surpass Titanic to become the highest grossing movie of all time.

It's already the 3rd highest grossing movie of all time and it's only in it's 4th week of release!

If you are going to make a mistake--make it with confidence.

I will have to go see some of the other films.

I thought the Dark Knight was intense, depressing and well done.  Depressing in that there is the reality that when in conflict with others that share none or your social norms or morality, and internal conflict comes into play as well.  It seems futile.  I guess we will see how the writers sort this out in the next film if Christian Bale can stay out of trouble.

Yeah, he had confidence, and I give the film an A for effort. Unlike many U.S. films, it at least uses the language of the country in which the action occurs.

Plus, I'll watch any movie with Jet Li (李连杰/李连杰/LǐLíanJíe); not to mention the woman I've had a crush on for the past 20 years, Michelle Yeoh (杨紫琼/楊紫瓊/YángZǐQíong).

Luke Ford's Mandarin was absolutely horrible!  BUT I must say that he sold it well.  To the untrained ear you'd think his character had been living in China for half his life!  Confidence can cover up alot!

In a similar vein, was it just me or was Luke Ford's (i.e. the son in Tomb of the Dragon Emperor) Mandarin really bad?

I wouldn't go to see it just for the Mandarin; it was pretty much just thrown in... like the bit about South Koreans smuggling goods into North Korea... or the inability to extradite nationals from Hong Kong... and so on.  Still, a decent summer flick.

It is interesting that Mandarin seems to be making its way into more and more U.S. films.  This summer alone had Mummy III, Dark Knight, and Forbidden Kingdom.

Haha my boyfriend and I noticed it too! It kind of broke the moment, because it was completely unexpected, but well, we weren't distracted long. It was a great movie =D
