Donating form Countries other than China and the US

Dear wildyaks, it is very generous and inspiring of you to be "big" about where the help goes. I've been crying a few times each day as I follow the developing news of how the wonderful people of China are coping with the aftermath of the earthquake. But I am absolutely haunted by the plight of the people in the Irrawaddy Delta, who don't have the help they need. To everyone who is hesitating to give to UN agencies, the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, or the World Food Programme because of the likelihood that the relief supplies will be stolen by the ruling junta, I'd like to appeal to you to be bigger than that. Just give. For once, we must give so much that whatever stolen supplies the soldiers -- and their bosses -- may be hoping to sell to the genuine victims will lose its "market value" in the face of a flood of help from the rest of the world.

God bless China and her people for doing all the right things now. As I write this, ASEA governments have finally been shamed into entering into serious talks about finding a way to get the aid in. Realistically, the only country on this planet which has any influence over the government of that cyclone-hit country is... China. I pray that what is happening in Xichuan will in some way nourish the spirit of compassion in the Chinese people, and give them the resolve to try and relieve the suffering of those who are suffering elsewhere.

In the end it does not matter so much, where one gives, as long as we allow ourselves to be touched and moved by the human suffering that is happening right now in China and in Myanmar and in other places around the globe...

I am working for a small NGO in Sichuan and some of the projects are located right in the epicentre of the earthquake. You can imagine how hugely disturbing these news have been for me.
