Point of Website Changes?

CPod say they will gradually restore all old functionality to this site. So I have to ask - what was the point of the changes? What improvements will we see that will make this all worthwhile? I am not yet aware of any improvement to the site.

The one thing that is definitely NOT an improvement for me: In the lesson library by channel, we see 12 lessons per page instead of 50. And the page selector is at the BOTTOM of the page. So to get to page 30 I have to SCROLL, select page 7, SCROLL, select page 9, SCROLL, select page 11, ...

Surely CPOD does not consider this to be an efficient way to progress through the list of lessons. It is the photos that are taking up all the space and allowing fewer lessons per page - how do these photos add to our ChinesePod experience?

Yes, one would have thought they would have waited until the new web site was functional before replacing the old one. Are you sure that "all" of the old functionality will eventually return? Does anybody know if the ability for Skritter users to access CPod lesson vocabulary has been restored? How about the ability to send private messages to fellow users? Before the change it seems that all users' accounts were reset to show "this user has chosen not to receive emails" by default. Now I think maybe the function is gone altogether. I thought the editing function was back (as promised), but no, it is still only available for some posts and not others.

This sounds a bit Monty Python-esque.

Perhaps someone could communicate to us that they are not willing to communicate about who communicated to them that CPod is not willing to communicate about their lack of communication.

"Who in CPod is responsible for the non-communication policy?"

They are not going to tell us (by definition) :-)

I'm not sure about ALL - I thought that was what Alex (is that his name?) posted elsewhere. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

But I'd still like to know the point of it all.

I wasn't using the site back in 2007, but it is apparent from the posts back then that everyone was well prepared for the major changes that happened to the site in that year. The comments from then suggest that there were also bugs, but these comments seem a lot more civil due to the fact that people knew what was coming and were told to expect bugs, and also that they were informed of the advantages of the new system. This change has been sprung on us without any warning whatsoever, and without any indication of the advantages.

Who in CPod is responsible for the non-communication policy?
