Downloaded iPad app content frequently lost

November 15, 2011 at 10:57 PM posted in General DiscussionSound files that I have downloaded via your iPad app frequently disappear, causing me to have to download them again...to add to the frustration, to redownload them takes a long time as the site seems very slow.
My other iPad content from other apps is never deleted, only ChinesePod content.
It wouldn't be so bad if there was a way to quickly redownload it all again, but I have to open each page and click download for each word, dialog, phrase, and extended text.
Other than that I am very pleased with the service. Thanks for your help.

都好了。
It all came back before your reply.
I assume it was because of servers being down during the move.
I was using OuHanwen's terminology "redownload". All the content was wiped from the 3 devices and I was unable to get it back.
(Actually, flashcards stayed in memory on the ipad until I went back to the home page and clicked on self-study! )

Tim,
I just tried your account on my iPhone. (I am using the latest OS). The app is working. (I emailed you a screenshot of your self-study lessons) and suggestions.
Just to clarify, what do you mean by unable to redownload? Do you mean that you can't reinstall the app?

This has just happened to me too, and not for the first time either.
The reason I use it on my iPad is because I long gave up any hope of ever it working again on my iPhone. I received some glib email about making sure I use the latest version and reinstalling it, but nothing to actual to actually get to the bottom of why the app is failing.
Great lessons, great teachers...maybe one day we can say "great technology" too.

It's possible that this is a compatability problem, since we seem to only see this problem with the iPad and the app is really designed for the iPhone. We're working on a dedicated iPad app now, so perhaps this will all be rectified soon.

Hi,
There's still no timeline for the iPad app. We just released our Android tablet app last week, though. Progress is being made.
Best,

I have seen this problem also. (I have reported it in other discussion).
Like OuHanwen says it seems that for some reason sometimes the app starts to behave like user has logged out and logged in again (even when user has not done this).
Obviously some part of the application code thinks that user has logged off and logged on again. Because of this false assumption it clears the content (sound files) and starts syncing flash cards etc.
This is especially annoying if you happen to be in a place where there is no Internet connection. When this happens the app is completely useless until you get Internet connection again.

I didn't specifically log out, but it seems the app logged me out for some reason. Then when I came back I had to download it all again...This has happened more than once.

Hi,
The app is designed to clear downloaded data whenever users log out. If you go offline, close the app, or turn off the device, this shouldn't happen. Is this the case?
