Can't input chinese characters

I followed the instructions in #9 tip to input chinese characters. I still can't get it to work. I press the "hot keys" and nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? xièxie, Fù Dí Kē

Have you downloaded an input program? Try Google Pinyin.
