subscribed lessons
Tim
October 10, 2011 at 08:37 PM posted in General DiscussionToday, some 250 new subscribed lessons showed up in my "manage lessons" list (which, as a consequence, has become quite unmanageble).
A software glitch?

I think I have the same problem, I have lots of lessons in my home page that I have deleted but when I log out and log back in they re-appear. I suscribe to ele, intermediate, Upper I and Advanced but I cannot download into iTunes. The last lesson that downloaded was Intermediate A Business Lunch Invitation. The error message is: "http://chinesepod.com/user19325/feed/d0906bc1" could not be found on the server. Have we found a fix for this yet? Is there any more information I can supply to help find the source of the issue?

It appears that the issue is related to the data issue we had earlier in the week. When visiting the site for the first time, some users (though not all, and we're not quite sure why some were affected and some weren't) were erroneously given extra lessons on their self-study list. We've looked through the data, though, and we can't tell which lessons are erroneous, so there's no way we can just go and remove all of the incorrect lessons. mhaak's method seems to be the only way to resolve it.
Again, we're very sorry about this, and will keep working to figure out exactly what happened so that it doesn't happen again.

Thank you for looking into it.
I removed all subscribed lessons from my list.
Most of them just reappear.
So now my lesson list contains a subset of the affected lessons, which should be fairly easy to isolate.
I deleted them again.
Now, I paid attention:
When just reloading the lesson list (using the reload button of the browser), or using the lesson list, the lessons do not reappear.
However, when going back to the dashbord (from the screen showing the lessen list: top bar(home) --> dashbord bar(self-study)) the lessons reappeared in the list. I can see the subscribed lessons on the dashbord, which means they have been added in the actions between leaving the list and showing the dashbord.
Also note, those lessons appeared 2 days ago, which was not the first time I visited.

John,
I have deleted them several times. After a few hours they re-appear
and you do know you have a problem with avatars not showing. Not all, but most.

I'm still having problems with this - I'm unable to download new lessons. Should I just remove the podcasts from iTunes and download them again?

I had the same problem this afternoon. I removed everything and re-bookmarked the few lessons I was working on. That seemed to work.

Thanks for the bug report. I've packaged it up and sent it to the technical team, and as soon as I have any feedback from them I'll pass it on to you.
Apologies for this. We'll make sure we get your lists back to normal.

Hi John
I was also surprised to see today that you (and Jenny Zhu) are two of ChinesePod's newest users. Again not a critical issue .. welcome to ChinesePod. :)
Yesterday I couldn't use the site - I could get to the dashboard but I couldn't get to any lessons or comments.

I'm having the same issue. This isn't so much a complaint as just a comment to others to let them know the problem isn't specific to one person.
Besides, I still have five lessons in iTunes that I'm working on, so it's not yet a pressing issue for me.

I am having the same problem, I have 10 pages of 2010 lessons that now show up on my active list. I tried to remove them all, but when I reloaded my list they showed up again.

October 13, 2011 at 06:09 PMFor those (still) having this problem:
A working solution is to unsubscribe from everything. No subscribed lessons reappear in the list.
