June 24, 2011 at 03:05 PM posted in General DiscussionI think this is pretty easy to read (at least easier to read than anything I write in English). Then again, who can't read their own handwriting? I feel that my biggest problem with my handwriting is that the proportions and stroke lengths are off. When I started learning, I felt my handwriting book (with the box things) was too precious to write in so I practiced on regular lined paper. Now I'm thinking about using skritter to help me correct my bad habits and write in a more natural, native looking way.

'I saw something shiny'
LOL .. Orangina has changed our lives... well, how we speak anyway.
"'ow ya goin' mate"
Hard to translate - in Australia we want some response, but not too many details, right? It is half way between a nod and a genuine enquiry, definitely friendly but you don't want anyone's life story.
The closest I have is that when I walk into our community people sometimes say '回来了' with a smile - and I reply '回来了'. It's friendly, but they don't need to know where I've been, what I did, or why I am coming home. Okay, another expression that comes close is : 你吃了没有? Answer: 吃了! All done.

hehe, yeah of course it means "how do I get there?". I feel like a dill now. I knew "'ow ya goin' mate" wasn't written that way in chinese [ I thought maybe you were adopting one of my games and pumping out a bit of chinglish for the fun of it...or is that Engnese...the latter I think...I get 'em mixed up], but I think from the first part I mistakenly thought you were already using the handwriting input [I realise now you just meant you were on sougou pinyin ime] and that's what threw me [plus it was very late and I was excited...oh,oh, and wait for it, here's my golden opportunity....I saw something shiny...I think it was orangina's piaoliang de shouxie actually]

‘"怎么走?"...do you mean how are you going?’
Actually here it means 'how do I get there? A question about the handwriting function on sougou - which you answered, thanks a lot.

just replied to this on another thread mate but in case you didn't see that, here's what I had there:
oh, just about to hit the sack mate, but I just noticed this question and didnt want to leave you in the lurch. I just now understood what you were saying on that other thread. Yeah, as darkstar has above, you have to install it. As above, go to this:
扩展功能 > 扩展功能管理
once installed, you click on the tool icon at the bottom of your browser and then click on 扩展功能 [look for a capital N...or probably just type N..not tried that] and then follow that to a new box and click on 手写输入. Good luck mate. Wan an :)
