The real MEETUP in Taiwan

The one at http://www.meetup.com 

has very recently begun to grow quite rapidly here in Taiwan. 

The "Taipei International Meetup" group has started a weekly Mandarin learning meeting in DaAn district. 

This group also makes trip and does other fun things. 

It's the best group I've found in Taipei in my almost two years here.
