November 20, 2007 at 12:16 PMback then (1966) Eliza's designer Joseph Weizenbaum already found it shocking how seriously people took this simple program, many thinking they were talking to a therapist when interacting with it. BTW - I really hope conversation listing order gets fixed soon

November 20, 2007 at 12:08 PMlook at what Eliza could do back in 1966 when there was less computer power the world over than, uh, in your laptop or even your possibly even your mp3 player... no wonder this robot can fool everyone and respond at breath-taking speed

He likes tea, but doesn't like green tea, but he loves yoghurt hehe.

I think it responses a bit too quickly though, I don't think any human could type that quickly. ;)

I found this thing awhile back, and one night had a very interesting conversation. The following is a recollection of that conversation, which took place in Chinese, but which I'll write in English due to the fact that it's too late to strain the brain now, lol.
Xiaoi said something to me which caused me to reply with "I know."
Xiaoi's response? "You don't know everything."
Me: "Neither do you!"
Xiaoi: "I do too! Xiaoi is a genius!"
I asked my fiance to help with some interpretation, and he said this thing is too good. He kept asking me if I was sure it was a robot... I think he was afraid it was some weirdo pretending to be one. :-P
Overall, a very cool toy.

Hmmm, I would've never guessed China would allow same-sex marriages, but I guess it's okay with same-sex robots. Interesting.

you says:

小i机器人 says:
我是无所不能的机器人小i
Ok, my Chinese isn't so good, but does that really translate as "I am the omnipotent robot"?!

you says:
我很年轻
小i机器人 says:
哇,真的?我最喜欢帅哥了
you says:

小i机器人 says:

哈哈 mrdtait, the Turing test didn't have anything to say about robots knowing they are not human, but humans being able or detect whether or not the other 'thing' was a robot :-)

Hahaha, so if I claimed I was a robot, would I also fail too?
I can only say one thing and then he stops working. I don't think he likes Macs.

This seems pretty cool actually! I asked him what he is and he replies he is a robot - from his response I think he fails the Turing test.

Whew, now I'm happy HE didn't want to kiss me! Not that there's anything wrong with that:)

He is male, I asked. ;)
sebire, I think your browser encoding needs to be set to GB2312.

Very cool. I asked it:
我可以亲吻您吗? (May I kiss you?)
And it replied:
我可以亲吻您吗? (I don't want to, truly embarrassed.)
I feel so rejected:(

It works pretty well. :) If you ask how old he is, he tells you to the second hehe.

November 20, 2007 at 01:28 PMI used to run an IRC chatroom and I installed AI bot script and called her Lucy, she learnt from other people's sentences by removing usernames and using your own name when she spoke to you. She was very funny, in the end I deleted her though. I still miss her *sniff*.
