gēnjù shǐliào jìzǎi ，zì Hàncháo yǐlái ，Zhōngguó lìcháo duì nánhǎi dōu yǒu xún hǎi ānbǎo de zhuānmén fùzé bùmén 。rújīn dàjiā dōu zhīdào ，nánZhóngguóhǎi shàng de zhòngduō dǎoyǔ yùncáng fēngfù de shíyóu tiānránqì zīyuán ，tóngshí yě jùyǒu zhòngyào de zhànlüè dìwèi ，zhè jiù yǐnqǐ zhēngduān le 。

According to historical records, from the Han Dynasty onward, Chinese dynasties have a government organ responsible specifically for patrolling the South China Sea for security threats. It is commonly thought that many of the islands and reefs in the South China Sea hold rich reserves of oil and natural gas. At the same time, they are also important strategic locations, leading to the disputes.

中国所有的这些岛屿，很多被菲律宾、越南等国家强占。后来中国划出南海九段线，宣布这些岛屿主权属于中国，菲律宾当然不满，于是就有了菲律宾发起的南海争端仲裁事件。

Zhōngguó suǒyǒu de zhèxiē dǎoyǔ ，hěn duō bèi Fēilǜbīn 、Yuènán děng guójiā qiáng zhàn 。hòulái Zhōngguó huàchū nánhǎi jiǔduànxiàn ，xuānbù zhèxiē dǎoyǔ zhǔquán shǔyú Zhōngguó ，Fēilǜbīn dāngrán bùmǎn ，yúshì jiù yǒu le Fēilǜbīn fāqǐ de nánhǎi zhēngduān zhòngcái shìjiàn 。

Many of these Chinese islands and reefs have been occupied through force by countries like the Philippines and Vietnam. Later when China drew a nine dash line in the South China Sea to proclaim its sovereignty over these islands and reefs, the Philippines was, of course, displeased. This led the Philippines to apply for an arbitration over the South China Sea dispute.
