January 29, 2010 at 3:03 PMafter listening to dozens of ellie lessons, I have to ask, jenny, do you listen to mitch hedberg? your delivery of joke-ish lines reminds me of his way of talking sometimes (in this lesson it was when you said "I have to say it has occurred in my dreams several times".)
slightly deadpan, but also a little goofy.
please take it as a compliment. john and jenny, your lessons make me laugh often.

January 5, 2010 at 12:31 PMsuch a good lesson...a couple of times I have asked my companion, in English, if I should leave a tip; they don't know what I'm talking about and smile and nod, and then I end up with a waiter, or in one case, a hair stylist, embarrassed and chasing me out the door to hand me my money. now I can ask in Chinese.

May 8, 2010 at 1:46 AMFun lesson....the other natural question I would expect to be asked (and have been asked in China) in this situation is "how long are you going to stay in China?" But I never understand this question properly the first time someone asks me.....what is it? Thanks!
