In the US it depends on your ethnicity.  Many people eat turkey but many German Americans eat goose for Thanksgiving.  My wife is Chinese so we eat Hot Pot for Thanksgiving Dinner.  Althought Turkey is the most popular meat for Thanksgiving.  Most of my Chinese friends say that the Turkey is too dry.  However in New Orleans and Cajun country they deep fry the turkey and it is very moist.

I have eaten hairy crabs several times.  I agree with John a lot of fuss with little return.  However the meat is sweet and I enjoyed it, including the roe, guts and all.  I prefer the Dungeness crabs from my native Oregon (USA).

What is the difference between liang as in liang zai and leng?  I notice when you order cold dishes they are referred to as liang zai but not leng zai.

A few years ago I bought a book in Pinyin and simplified characters called: Tāng Mǔ Suǒ Yà Li Xian Ji or The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. It would be fun to go through this story if you can. Here is the publisher and ISBN:

  • ISBN:978-7-5301-2122-1
  • 出版社:北京少年儿童出版社
  • 出版日期:2008年05月 版次:第1版
  • 作者:马克吐温
  • Just a thought. Each chapter is small emough for a few lessons.
