Hello @vitruvianman, the Chinese government is great at passing tough-sounding laws that are never enforced. The passed a law forbidding smoking in all restaurants that took effect last year. No effect. As you say, people light up next to the no smoking signs. It's sort of like watching the police cars running red lights.

Also, your point on one-on-one fights is a good cautionary tale. I've learned that if you get in a serious argument, and the other guy pulls out his cell phone, take it away quick. Kung fu movies notwithstanding, one-on-one fights are not part of the Chinese code of manliness.

我感觉那位小姐真的很昏倒。人家一问她一个问题，她感觉不舒服，脸上就露出凶光。而且她去那里面试。如果一位求职者对我表现这样的态度，我也不喜欢。并且那些嘉宾都是CEO或总经理，很高层次的领导。他们肯定更不喜欢！

Here is a link to what looks to be a pretty comprehensive chart of Chinese ancestry and terms of address. This Wiki on Chinese terms of address is pretty good as well.

One of the interesting tidbits that I gleaned from the Wiki was 九族. Here's an article in Chinese on the subject covering鄧綏/鄧太後/Empress Hexi during the Eastern Han Dynasty. It was used for, among other things, determining executions. In other words, if you killed general so-and-so for treason (or loyalty as the case may be), then you had to kill four generations from his paternal side, three from his maternal side, and two from his wife's side.
