When I started traveling to Shanghai in 2006, there were only three subway lines, fun and convenient.  Now look at how many there are!

http://www.urbanrail.net/as/shan/shanghai.htm

Fortunately, the subways are traveler friendly, with lots of signs in Chinese and English, and stops are announced by a recorded message, in Chinese and British English.  It might be good to add some typical vocabulary seen on and around subway cars (don't lean on the door...门勿靠?, first exit, then enter, 先出再进?and how seats are marked for elderly or disabled.

Nice lesson.

从图森到上海骑自行车要多长时间? 我真的不知道。。。坐飞机要差不多二十个小时,不过骑自行车...., 可能让我等到那时候从阿拉斯加到西伯利亞有陆桥 (lu4qiao2 - land bridge)

Very happy to see Shanghainese being covered by Chinese Pod, but I need some pointers on how to understand the equivalent of Pinyin provided in these lessons.   The written "Pinyin" version of the dialogue looks nothing like what is heard.  For example, are there some good texts or references to assist in being able to understand how actually to pronounce va h tse pi ni le.   This is certainly not Pinyin like pronunciation, so I welcome your advice.   While in Shanghai, I did actually look for Shanghainese - English learning material, and didn't find anything useful for someone at intermediate level of Putonghua / Mandarin, and fluent in English.  Thanks to all the Chinesepod staff for this interesting complement to our normal Mandarin studies.

pretzellogic,

http://www.unrv.com/culture/minor-roman-god-list.php  there are multiple "minor" gods/goddesses here associated with prosperity

Pluto is the Greek God of Wealth - http://www.wordsources.info/pluto.html  (His Greek counterpart is Hades, but the link above doesn't list him for some reason)

sound quality correct at 4 minutes in, restarts at 5:33, ok at 6:50, 8:20 problems, 10:30 ok, 12:07 problems again - very frustrating; checked the next lesson and it is fine, so it doesn't seem to be my laptop.....

nice lesson, just one question, when you refer to right and left in the theatre, is that from the perspective of someone looking toward the screen in the theatre, or from the perspective of looking away from the screen (toward the 后排 )?
