I think it may also be helpful just to think of 有我呢 as one chunk, meaning something along the lines of "I'll take care of ... (for you)" or "you have me (to help ..."). I'd say it's quite common to tag this onto the end of a phrase as one chunk to give this meaning to the sentence (the topic/comment construction that tingyun explained)

Hi Dominic,

I think you heard correctly: 那块小铁皮 (that small sheet/plate of metal).

Hi Bodawei,

Actually it's the use of 会 (rather than 掉) that has me wondering, as I usually associate this sort of construction with expressing some kind of ability, for example 他很会说话 or 他很会喝酒。

I have a quick question about one of the expansion sentences:

头发。It's translated as "He loses a lot of hair", which is fair enough, but I'm wondering if the tone/feeling of the Chinese is the same. The Chinese sounds kind of like a jokey way to say this to me, but I'm not sure???

Hi Hamshank,

I just think of 不怎么样 as a fixed expression meaning not so good, not up to much, nothing special, that kind of feeling. It's very commonly used.

Here are some more examples from ChinesePod's glossary. Hope that helps.

“首都已经成了首堵了”。那怎么办呢?我上个星期才发现了这个很有创意的解决方法,叫“立体快巴  (英语名字好像是“跨坐公交车 (straddling bus))。挺有意思的!

根据网上的报道,今年年底北京市会运行一个试点。

学校们:我的意思是说“学生们”

西澳州的:我的意思是西澳大利亚州。可能我创作了自己的缩写。十二年级学生们考的是“西澳洲教育证书” (Western Australian Certificate of Education)

当然打错了。我的意思是打“十年级一斑”。

哎呀,“根据学校们的学习能力划分的” 的 “学校们” 也打错了。我不太习惯打字,应该多练习吧!

“你提到国际学校,对吧?”

不算国际学校,学生们差不多都是中国人。但是我们教的课程不是中国的,而是西澳州的。

Hi Baba,

在我以前工作的高中,学生们挺多的。一般每一个年纪都有一百多个学生。所以学生们被分作不同的班 (比如说:十年级一般,十年级二班,等等)。有时候是根据学校们的学习能力划分的,有时候每一个班都差不多。但是那所学校不是中国教育系统的。关于普通本地学校的情况我也不知道。希望我们的老师们或者一个本地学校的外教会给我们介绍一下。
