Something unique to areas where there is no guaranteed freedom of the press.

February 27, 2009 at 4:03 AMpretzellogic, I don't think Chinese have any monopoly on food prejudice - some love to try the food of other areas and some only like what they are used to. Northerners look askance at the strange things Southern people eat, or revel in the variety and seasoning, and Southerners think Northerners don't have any idea how to eat, or enjoy the plain clean flavours.
American Chinese food is a whole other variety.
抓 have usually seen referring to food that is eaten with the hands like 抓饭、 手抓排骨.
Another term for food that is pulled apart by the chef is 手撕 - in Chengdu you can get astoundingly delicious 手撕 麻辣烤兔 (numbing/spicy bbq rabbit) and 手撕烤鸭 (bbq duck) .
