April 19, 2012 at 7:39 AMThank you guys for your clear explanations. It's been a while since I posted my question (know why I don't get email notices when someone posts a reply? Is there some setting I missed?). Now that I look back at the phrase, it's so easy to understand (I'm like...duh!). :) It might have been that I was just plain tired at the time, or that now that some time has passed, I've learned more English and Chinese. Anyway, thank you for replying.

When "A" says, "以前喝二锅头呗" towards the end of the dialog, what does the "呗" (bei) at the end mean? (It is not translated in the pop-up box.) Thanks,

May 4, 2010 at 6:20 PMHas anyone asked about the last line of the dialog, specifically, "真是新鲜嘞"? I don't understand the English translation ("that's something else"???) and, needless to say, the Chinese phrase.
