Its more than a few years ago. Steve Roach patted Eddie Ward on the head 21 years ago! Where has that time gone?

July 31, 2009 at 11:39 AMIn the expansion sentence:
你说得慢一点,我都听糊涂了。Nĭ shuō de màn yìdiăn, wŏ dōu tīng hútu le. Speak slower, I'm confused.
what is the purpose of the 都 (dōu)?
I thought 都 was used to draw together two or more subjects mentioned immediately beforehand. Here I see only one subject for the verb 听 (tīng) - 我 (wŏ).
Or can we translate it as in English: "I'm all confused" ?

July 31, 2009 at 11:24 AMIn the expansion sentence:
你怎么笨得像头猪? Nĭ zĕnme bèn de xiàng tóu zhū? How can you be as stupid as a pig?
What does the 头 (tóu) contribute to the sentence?
My only thought is that it could be a measure word, as in a 'head' of pig (like a head of cattle). But then there is no number used, so surely a measure word would not be appropriate?

The heading for the 7th set of expansion sentences is 热 (rè). However the featured word in that set is 烫 (tàng).
