April 30, 2011 at 7:49 PMI don't get the bit about mooncakes. Why can't employees receive mooncakes, and why would it be a bribe if clients get mooncakes but employees don't?

April 26, 2011 at 9:38 PMI get the feeling that, though I can understand more and more Chinese from listening to lessons, I need to integrate it more- right now I do this mostly by writing, but I think I need to make it a point to have extended (enough) conversation with my parents (who speak chinese- I didn't quite learn when I was younger (for some reason)).
I'm fine with tones actually...

April 10, 2011 at 10:52 PMHow do you say 'serve', as in 'I'd rather die than serve you'?

March 26, 2011 at 10:51 PMAlso, how do you say 'take something too seriously'? On an unrelated note. Is it 'renwei tai yanzhong'? Doesn't really slip off the tongue. Maybe something like overestimate or exaggerate... maybe zuanniujiaojian

March 26, 2011 at 10:48 PMWhat about 'shoubuliao'? Could you say 'shoubuliao de buxing'? Unlikely I guess

May 7, 2011 at 10:38 PMHow do you distinguish between 'all' and 'any'?
For example, if I say, "I've got too much to do, I can't do it all", my first translation attempt would be, '我有太多事要做,都做不了'. But that means, 'I can't do any of it', which isn't the same as 'I can't do it all (by a certain time, or whatever).
