Characters of Water World: Since this lesson seems to deal with one water sport, and since has quite a few characters with the water radical, I picked them for some ease of character memorization. See who can first guess these characters based on the radicals I used to form short descriptions. 1) ?: a ticket(piào) when put in water(shuǐ) will do this 2) ?: water(shuǐ) will eventually form a(yī) door(mén) or an opening(kǒu) in rock, creating this 3) ?: water(shuǐ), or even flesh(ròu) cut from the bone(guǎ), will be this when spread on the floor 4) ?: water(shuǐ) does this, and so does the hair(using chuān) of a newborn upside down(zǐ upsidedown) 5) ?: white(bái) water(shuǐ) as it strikes(pū) the side(fāng) is doing this

My favorite of those of course is the world of the lesson, 辣. I never realized that, while the left looks like a chili pepper, it is actually a picture of the "suffering"辛 that comes from this little bundle of small red things. Cool.

So then, how do Chinese guys talk about girls? In English we can of course call them "hot" "spicy" and the like. Not that I really need to be going around calling Chinese girls this, it would be good to know when I hear other Chinese guys or in movies. One of my closet Chinese friends likes to say, but in English, "She has sex appeal!" I'm like, "Okay..." Where the heck did he get that from?

Oh weird, I count 200 newbie lessons in my folder for them, but the Lessons tabs say 208...whats with that? I know I have exactly the number of mp3 files that are counted by the file name here. Weren't all the 7 week intros merged with the newbie lessons in the switch?

Character Memorization Help: Here are some descriptions of characters using their radicals. Can you guess which character from the vocabulary they are? 1) Footsteps(chì) with a mountain(shān) small enough to be placed/struck(pū) on a table(jī) are all.... 2) Suffering(xīn) that comes in a bundle(shù) 3) A vast area(guǎng) with twenty(niàn) hands(yòu) 4) This is what is needed to be done to grain(hé) in order to be presented(chéng) 5) This is what a cow(niú) at the temple(sì) is.

很好的问题。在中国,他们有几种辣椒?我知道一些,也是到墨西哥的辣椒和中国的不一样,觉得墨西哥的更辣!中国的辣椒虽然能有辣的,对嘴比较舒服。 我最喜欢花椒 :) 干煸豆角... MMmmmmm....
