Yeah, finally landed a job as programmer here. :) Yeah, that was the one at Malone's. Google Plus doesn't work in China of course, unless you're using a VPN. Were you on a VPN or proxy server that let's you view YouTube, FB and the like? If so, then maybe I need to check the link again, but if not, yeah, they are on a site blocked by China...welcome to China! :)

Here are a few pictures of the my last ChinesePod meetup way back in January of 2010 when I first came to Shanghai, and didn't work at ChinesePod yet:

Hope that link works as it seems to change from picasa to plus since it's been 2 years 3 months since those pictures were taken/uploaded. Was great fun... so hope all you that can come do come!

I actually was okay with the 徐汇游泳馆 (Dong'an Lu and Fengling Lu) which even had, when it opened anyway, a gym for 30元 a visit, or get 30 visits on a card which works out to 20元 a visit (600 RMB). But yes, as I look for a gym now, Will's gym down the street is still quite expensive...and I'm one that irregularly goes, haha...so pay-per-visit works best for me.

Yes, the hairdryer use is quite disgusting and so often didn't use the locker room when it was crowded. And for those who haven't guessed it yet, or haven't been confirmed, yes, they also use it for drying hair not on top of the head. (and with Asians having very little body hair compared to us, you can guess where)

Great lesson.  Listened to it on the way to work today. I never knew about 器械 (qìxiè) before to call a gym "machine"... and I used to have a trainer at a gym in Tianjin天津 and he never seemed to correct me for calling them 机器, haha.

A question though: John often says in english "Gym Equipment" or "Exercise Equipment". Is it ok when in the gym to call them 设备 (shèbèi = equipment)?

Yeah, 让一下 is what I've always used.
